Security Duty Manager

This role calls for excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience of working closely within a team to support patients, visitors and staff within a health and social care sector.
This role will support the Security Manager in the day-to-day line-management of the security staff and deputise in their absence. To communicate and liaise with the Clinical Site team to make sure the security of all Trust sites are maintained.
Primarily the position will be to make sure the daily security provision runs smoothly. You will also respond to incidents of disorder across the Trust, assisting with clinically challenging behaviour such as: Confusion, Delirium, Dementia, and Post Operation - Anaesthetic Related Delirium. Admin tasks such as but not limited to, rotas, reports, annual appraisals and training of staff will be needed to be maintained.
Experience and an understanding of the healthcare environment, supporting patients and being customer focused is essential. You will help provide a professional security service, tailored to meet the needs of the Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust and will protect, advise, investigate and act within a legal framework to maintain a safe and crime free environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Main duties of the job
* Manage the ID badge service under the supervision of the Security Operations Manager ensuring that all enquires are dealt with in a timely manner.
* To act as a focal point of contact and be responsible for 24/7 security rota under the supervision of the Security Manager. In addition to this, the role will be responsible for invoicing, purchasing, ward cross-charging, and any other financial tasks required. To manage the dissemination of information messages and enquires linked to the Healthcare Security Officers.
* The post holder will provide a response to Trust security incidents at the request of the Security Manager, to assist with the management of individuals who may require conflict management or physical interventions.
* To assist in delivering physical intervention training under the supervision of the restraint lead.

Being a member of the Security Team, the post holder has both a group and individual responsibility for defined aspects of the service and will ensure that their contribution is both positive and beneficial in helping Trust Security and other departments of the Trust to fulfil the Trust's overall objectives.
Job responsibilities
To communicate with patients and visitors who may be violent, distressed or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
* Work with the security management team in the delivery of a 24/7 security service within the Trust and to support colleagues within the clinical and non-clinical areas.
To use tact or persuasive skills as required supporting the safety of staff, patients and visitors.
To support and provide information to staff in relation to violent or distressed patients.
Give directions and advice to patients and visitors across the Trust sites.
To greet and assist all service users in a friendly and helpful manner, thus promoting and maintaining a good communication network with all service user groups.
To liaise with the Security Management Team to resolve any issues that may arise during their shift and make decisions as appropriate.
To promote good communication at all times with all service user groups and colleagues across the Trust.
