Role Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join Nidec Drives as a Senior Procurement Manager – NPD & Projects.
As part of the global Nidec Procurement team, you will be responsible for the efficient delivery of Procurements overall Projects and New Product Introduction (NPD) program. This will include project managing key programs/Projects, working across the business, integrating, aligning, and delivering the Procurement requirements through effective project management, communication, and reporting skills.
As Senior Procurement Manager – NPD & Projects, you and your team will take the lead from the inception of the project at its initiation, right the way through to delivery. You will be required to confidently demonstrate our performance for both the commercial and project timeline, in bi-weekly reviews with the Procurement Director.
As a key leader within the Procurement and Supply Chain team, you will play a major part in the alignment and approach of our Procurement function. You will ensure that all sourcing decisions are made and support our overall direction and plan, providing an invaluable part of the vision and strategic plan within the Senior leadership team.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Success in this role will positively contribute to strategic business and financial objectives. The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Work with Global Procurement Category Managers to align and direct short, medium, and long-term strategies for their categories.
* Utilise cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of requirements and include these in project progress reports.
* Work globally with all regions and functional areas to ensure optimized performance and alignment with the overall project plan.
* Proactively lead and participate in project management meetings and reviews.
Tactical Execution:
* Develop and manage procurement NPD and project plans, reporting on progress and deliverables.
* Lead procurement NPD and project reviews internally and with the wider business.
* Support NPD plans to improve and deliver against tight timescales.
* Work with regional teams to ensure implementation of NPD plans, aligned with targets and goals.
* Maintain KPIs for NPD and projects to measure ongoing execution.
Team Structure and People Management:
* Provide leadership and direction for the procurement NPD team.
* Advocate for procurement NPD and project approaches and serve as a knowledge resource for the wider business.
* Monitor and review the performance of NPD and project plans.
* Communicate effectively across all levels of the business to instill confidence and clarity.
* Manage regular reviews with procurement teams, other functions, and regions.
Relationship Management:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Collaborate with procurement, R&D, operations, and finance teams.
* Work with stakeholders to ensure delivery and performance of project deliverables.
Travel Requirements:
* Potential travel to Nidec locations and suppliers, including international and long-haul trips.
Qualifications & Experience:
* CIPS, Business Bachelor's Degree, or Project Management qualification.
* Proven experience in project management or procurement, ideally in a production environment.
* Familiarity with electronics and mechanical raw parts (preferred).
* Experience in complex, cost-effective project environments.
* Logical, structured, proactive mindset.
