Overview
Weekend Retail Supervisor, Seaview Village Community Shop. A part‑time, weekend supervisor role to a permanent post. Leads a small team of volunteer assistants to deliver excellent service to customers.
Responsibilities
* Lead a small team of volunteers; manage the rota system and provide support to new volunteers on your shifts.
* Ensure weekly deliveries from main suppliers are correctly received, unpacked, and stored; ensure shop procedures are followed by yourself or a volunteer.
* Oversee operation of the shop's till system and complete cashing‑up routines at the end of each shift.
* Ensure compliance with food safety and alcohol sales regulations and maintain shop standards.
* Provide an excellent service to customers with a friendly welcome and efficient service.
* Work closely with the Stock Control Supervisor and support a volunteer team during shifts (typically 1–3 volunteers on duty).
* Manage rota system and adapt to seasonal opening hours as required.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Reliable and responsible with the ability to oversee a busy retail operation.
* Some retail sector experience desirable, preferably with food and drink sales; not essential.
* Experience of working with volunteers is an advantage.
* Satisfactory references must be provided.
Details
* Hours: Saturday and Sunday mornings and afternoons totalling 15 hours per week, with an additional two hours each weekend during peak summer (mid‑July to end‑August). There may also be additional ad hoc hours by agreement.
* Salary: National Living Wage (currently £12.71 per hour).
* Shop hours: 8:30am to 12:00pm; 4:00pm to 6:00pm. In winter, close on Sunday and Monday afternoons; during mid‑July to end‑August, open for an additional hour each afternoon.
* Start times: mornings 7:45am before opening and finish by 12:30pm; afternoons 3:45pm to 6:30pm (peak summer 3:15pm to 7:00pm). Times vary slightly by season.
* Reporting: work with the Stock Control Supervisor; supported by volunteers on duty.

Notes: Seaview Village Community Shop is operated primarily through volunteers contributing time on a rota basis. Volunteers are experienced and come from a wide range of backgrounds.
