About The Role
Fareham Shopping Centre are seeking a highly motivated, confident and creative individual to lead the design, delivery and management of short-term, interim uses of empty spaces to enliven and deliver entertainment within the Centre. This role will complement existing commercialisation arrangements and scheduled events programme.
Based at Fareham Shopping Centre, and reporting to the Centre Manager, this role will also require close liaison with the wider Fareham Borough Council team to ensure proposed activations and events complement the wider town centre events programme. The Events and Marketing Specialist will deliver a strategy which optimises vacant and underused indoor and outdoor spaces during the day, and along the walkthrough route between the town centre and Fareham Live in the evenings to enliven spaces and establish evening activity. The overall aim is to create interest and enhance the visitor experience by encouraging and engaging a wide variety of visitors and supporting community engagement.
About You
Applicants should have:
* Demonstrable experience in a similar role that can be applied to a commercial shopping centre environment such as placemaking, event management or creative space activation.
* Excellent business acumen that will ensure all projects are designed to drive footfall and increase sales for shopping centre retailers.
* The ability to self‑start, with energy and the drive to make a difference.
* Strong project management and organisational skills; previous experience of planning and delivering events.
* Excellent communication and networking skills with the confidence to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
* Creative thinking with a passion for delivering impactful events and initiatives.
* Strong marketing knowledge and experience with digital content and social media marketing.
* Awareness of health & safety and licensing requirements for public events.
About Us
This role is directly employed by Fareham Shopping Centre and is offered on a part‑time basis at 24 hours per week, with working patterns to be agreed. A degree of flexibility is essential as evening, weekend or Bank Holiday working will be needed to support specific events. The position is offered on a fixed‑term contract of 18 months.
