Company Overview
Our client is a leading UK-based real estate and infrastructure developer, managing a unique national portfolio of commercial spaces located predominantly beneath railway infrastructure. With a blend of heritage assets and urban regeneration opportunities, the business is focused on transforming underutilised spaces into vibrant, income-generating sites that support SMEs, creative industries, and community uses.
Currently undertaking a phase of ambitious growth and operational transformation, the business is investing in building scalable internal systems — with supplier management at the core.
Role Summary
This is a strategic, freelance opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of a vital business initiative: the design and delivery of a bespoke supplier performance management system.
The successful candidate will be tasked with creating and implementing a system that evaluates and improves the performance of the company’s contractors, consultants, and supply chain partners — establishing a robust framework of KPIs, reporting tools, and feedback loops.
The role will suit a self-starter with the ability to work independently, manage stakeholders, and deliver a tangible commercial solution from concept to rollout.
Key Responsibilities
? System Design & Implementation
* Design and deliver a fit-for-purpose supplier performance management framework covering contractors, consultants, and service providers
* Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and establish a structured feedback and reporting loop
* Test, refine, and manage the rollout of the system, ensuring it is scalable and user-friendly
* Ensure system supports the organisation’s procurement, project delivery, and risk management goals
* Evaluate existing supplier performance and procurement data to inform the design process
* Introduce mechanisms to track, benchmark, and assess supplier delivery across quality, cost, compliance, and risk
* Work alongside commercial and delivery teams to integrate supplier performance data into project decision-making
? Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership
* Act as project lead for the supplier management initiative, reporting to senior leadership
* Engage cross-functionally with development, legal, finance, and operational teams
* Present findings, proposals, and progress updates to leadership and implement feedback
* Provide clear documentation, guidance, and training to ensure adoption of the new system
What We’re Looking For
* 7+ years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally in a developer or client-side environment
* Strong understanding of commercial contracts, procurement strategy, and supply chain risk
* Strategic thinker with the ability to execute operational detail
* Confident working autonomously and delivering project work end-to-end
* Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and reporting skills
* MRICS preferred but not essential
What’s on Offer
* Rare opportunity to lead a business-critical commercial system design within a national real estate developer
* High visibility and direct interaction with leadership and operational teams
* Hybrid working and autonomy in managing your work and project delivery
* Chance to make a real, long-term impact on a growing and values-driven property portfolio
