Recycler Assistant (Below Ground) – Yorkshire Water
Location: We have an opportunity for a Recycler Assistant to join our customer Field Services department and support the Yorkshire Water region. Successful applicants should live within a 30-minute commute from our Lower Brighouse wastewater treatment works and hold a full valid driving licence with no more than 6 points.
Working hours
This is a permanent opportunity working 40 hours per week, with rotational work patterns to cover 24/7 operations. After training, you may be required to participate in an emergency call-out rota; flexibility is essential.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Recycler Technician in operating a recycler in a safe and optimal way.
* Respond to reactive blockage reports from the sewer network and provide high-standard customer interaction while dealing with all sewer-related incidents.
* Support with blockage response times, especially during high work volumes and wet weather events.
* Work closely with other Yorkshire Water teams and contracted partners on site to resolve and manage operational issues on the sewer network.
* Assist with data collation and information for evidence capturing.
* Ensure Health and Safety practices and procedures are followed at all times.
* Make day-to-day business decisions with financial awareness and provide technical support to ensure first-time resolution and cost-effective solutions.
* Be prepared to work in confined spaces and pass medical criteria (BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, spirometry) for safety in hazardous environments.
What skills, experience and training you will need
* A full valid UK driving licence (no more than 6 points).
* A strong Health & Safety background.
* Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relations.
* Ability to diagnose faults and identify root causes; competent IT skills.
* Proactive, takes ownership, and can collaborate to solve problems.
* Commitment to ongoing personal development.
* Good interpersonal skills to liaise with operations, customers, and stakeholders.
* Having a drainage background would be beneficial.
