About Freemantles School

Freemantles School is a specialist school based in Mayford Green, Woking, providing education for autistic children and young people and those with complex social communication needs, aged 4–19.

Alongside our main Mayford site (Primary, Secondary and FE), we operate a temporary satellite provision in Ripley for autistic infant‑aged pupils. This close‑knit setting provides a nurturing, structured environment focused on early communication, emotional wellbeing and readiness for learning.

Classes are small, with an average of 9 pupils, allowing staff to give a high level of individual support.

About the role

As a Classroom Assistant, you will:

1. Support pupils with learning activities in the classroom and outdoors
2. Help children develop early communication, independence and social skills
3. Support emotional regulation and wellbeing throughout the school day
4. Work closely with teachers and other staff as part of a class team
5. Take part in weekly community outings, supporting learning beyond the classroom

This is a hands‑on, active role, ideal for people who enjoy variety and meaningful work.

Is this role right for you?

We’re looking for people who are:

6. Calm, resilient and flexible
7. Enthusiastic about supporting children and young people

✅ A good standard of English and Maths is required.

What we can offer you

10. Paid training and strong on‑the‑job support
11. Career development opportunities (education, psychology, SEN pathways)
12. A supportive leadership team focused on staff wellbeing
13. Employee Wellbeing Programme (including 24/7 GP access), staff wellbeing activities and free parking
14. Surrey County Council benefits including Local Government Pension Scheme, paid sickness entitlement, discount schemes (retail and leisure)

Working hours and pay

15. Up to 30 hours per week (part‑time may be available, subject to class staffing)
16. Primary hours: 9.15am – 3.15pm
17. Term time only
18. Salary: PS3 – £17,442 (based on 30 hours per week, term time only)

Salary is paid on a spread‑over basis, meaning you receive the same amount each month, including school holidays.

Please note: This amount does not yet include the Surrey Support Staff Pay Award currently under negotiation from 1 April 2026.
