Overview
Our client, a leading Construction Consultancy, is seeking a maternity-cover IT Assistant to join their Sevenoaks office on a fixed-term basis (10 months). This hands-on role provides first-line technical support and day-to-day IT administration to keep users, devices, and core systems running smoothly. The successful candidate will work closely with the IT Manager to support projects, upgrades, and security best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Helpdesk Support
* Act as first point of contact for IT support via phone, email, and ticketing system.
* Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly.
* Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, resolutions, and common fixes.
User Management
* Create, configure, and manage user accounts, mailboxes, and permissions in Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
* Perform onboarding tasks including account setup, hardware allocation, and IT orientation.
* Manage off-boarding: disable accounts, recover assets, and archive data.
* Maintain group policies, security groups, and access control to meet IT policy requirements.
Computer & Device Configuration
* Configure, deploy, and image laptops, desktops, and mobile devices for office users.
* Install and update applications, security patches, and endpoint protection.
* Maintain accurate hardware inventory and asset records.
IT Systems & Administration Support
* Assist the IT Manager with monitoring and maintaining servers, networks, and security tools.
* Support backup, recovery, and data protection procedures.
* Contribute to system upgrades, roll-outs, and IT projects while following security best practices.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Essential
* Previous experience in an IT support or helpdesk role.
* Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory.
* Practical understanding of basic networking: LAN, Wi‑Fi, VPN, and firewall fundamentals.
* Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer-service skills.
Desirable
* Experience with IT asset management tools and ticketing systems.
* Familiarity with IT security practices including MFA, endpoint protection, and encryption.
* Comfortable supporting both on-premises and cloud-based systems.

Salary: £30-36,000 per annum
