Overview
The Server Infrastructure Manager oversees the Trust’s server estate, storage platforms, backups and associated data‑centre environments, ensuring secure, resilient and high‑performing infrastructure services. The role requires advanced expertise in Microsoft/VMware technologies, cloud platforms, systems security and capacity planning, alongside experience managing complex infrastructure projects and leading specialist technical teams. The postholder provides senior technical guidance, oversees change and incident management processes, and ensures new services are introduced safely, effectively and in line with organisational requirements.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for the technical and operational assessment, installation, upgrade, control, maintenance and effective use of server infrastructure and cloud technology
* Manages projects end-to-end within area of responsibility (hardware and software refreshes & developments) from identifying the need, to building specifications and implementing
* Manages the Server Infrastructure Team, responsible for staff performance and disciplinary issues including ensuring that they have an agreed job description, appraisals, work, and training objectives and receive regular performance reviews
* Responsible for policy development for server and infrastructure services and ensuring quality by appropriate QA and compliance by regular audit
* Authorized signatory; responsible for the purchase of some physical assets and supplies; installation and/or repair and maintenance of physical assets. Signs off, e.g., overtime expenses; authorises purchase of IM&T equipment; responsible for the installation or repair and maintenance of IM&T equipment.
Qualifications
Advanced expertise in Microsoft/VMware technologies, cloud platforms, systems security and capacity planning; experience managing complex infrastructure projects and leading specialist technical teams.
