Description The Service & Team: Join Cornwall Council's Private Sector Housing Team as a Senior Environmental Health Officer! We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to make a significant contribution to our efforts in ensuring safe, healthy, and sustainable living conditions within Cornwall's private housing sector. As a Senior Environmental Health Officer, you will play an important role in improving housing standards, conducting inspections, and enforcing legislation to protect the health, safety and well-being of our community. The Role: Responsibilities for this role include: • To regulate the private rented sector in a manner which is compliant with our enforcement policy and secure positive outcomes for tenants. • To utilise statutory powers and use Civil Penalty Notices at scale. • To contribute to the prevention of illegal evictions. • To process HMO licensing applications, issue licences and undertake the period inspections of HMOs. • To respond to tenant and partner agency requests. • Implementation of projects to improve the private rented sector and protect tenants. This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
