Are you a dedicated specialist educator driven by the belief that every learner deserves a pathway to independence? We are seeking a Specialist Lecturer to join the pioneering SEND community at a brand‑new centre opening in September 2026. This role specifically supports students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).
This role goes beyond classroom delivery; it is about architecting a holistic education programme that integrates academic, physical, and emotional needs. You will lead a multidisciplinary approach, ensuring learners are empowered to reach individual milestones in a state‑of‑the‑art environment.
Key features include: working in a newly constructed, two‑floor accessible centre featuring on‑site therapies, medical services, and specialist sensory spaces; partnering daily with Speech and Language Therapists and Physiotherapists to provide integrated student support; and benefitting from a robust mentoring scheme and ongoing professional development to stay at the forefront of SEND pedagogy.
Responsibilities
* Design and coordinate bespoke curriculum programmes for students with PMLD, SLD, and autism.
* Create highly individualised schemes of work that blend academic learning with vital life and social skills.
* Manage a classroom team, providing direction to Learning Support Assistants to ensure a seamless educational experience.
* Use target setting and RARPA to track and maximise every small win for our complex‑needs learners.
* Lead academic progress reviews and contribute directly to the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process.
Requirements
* Minimum Level 3 in a relevant field (degree preferred) and a Level 5 teaching qualification (or willingness to work toward one).
* Proven experience teaching students with ASD, SLD, and PMLD, navigating complex profiles with patience and strategy.
* Deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and experience with Total Communication, Makaton, or PECS.
* Even if you don’t meet every single criterion listed, if you are a resilient individual with a genuine passion for supporting students and a willingness to learn, we would still love to hear from you.
