Program Details
The Asset Strategy Summer Placement offers a unique opportunity to explore how we plan, optimise, and innovate our water and wastewater infrastructure across a regulated FTSE 100 business. You’ll gain insight into how we manage our assets strategically and engineer processes that improve performance, resilience, and sustainability.
The programme comprises working across one of our key teams in Asset Strategy, Process Engineering, or Operational Improvement. During the 8‑week or 12‑week placement, you will be based at Severn Trent Centre in Coventry. You will take lead on projects and real‑life work with industry professionals.
Throughout your time with us, you’ll also benefit from a range of opportunities: Employability sessions, networking lunch, alumni lunch, senior leader panel event, and one‑to‑one support.
WHAT YOU MIGHT LEARN
* Contribute to the development of long‑term asset strategies that support investment planning and operational resilience.
* Analyse performance data to identify opportunities for process optimisation and efficiency improvements.
* Support the design and implementation of engineering solutions that enhance water and wastewater treatment.
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to address real‑world challenges and deliver tangible improvements.
* Learn how regulatory, environmental, and customer outcomes shape asset and process decisions.
* Assist in modelling and scenario planning to support future infrastructure needs.
* Gain exposure to innovation projects focused on sustainability, energy efficiency, and net zero goals.
ENTRY CRITERIA
Preferred individuals with a logical and solution‑oriented mindset, and a passion for Asset Management, Process Engineering, and driving innovation in sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure. Studying degrees such as Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering or any other relevant engineering degrees.
You must be currently studying at a UK university and be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.

DETAILS
Location: Severn Trent Centre, Coventry, CV1 2LZ
Programme Duration: 8 or 12 weeks
Starting Salary: £23,492 pro rata
Roles close on: 13th January 2026 at Midday (12pm)
Assessment windows: Face‑to‑face assessments run from February to the end of March
Start Dates: 1st June for a 12‑week placement, 29th June for an 8‑week placement
