Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Practice Manager to lead the overall direction, performance and sustainability of our busy practice serving approximately 7,000 patients. The successful candidate will provide high-level leadership, financial stewardship and governance oversight, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient centred services within NHS Wales Framework.
The practice is additionally contracted by Swansea Bay University Health Board to provide dedicated primary care services to the homeless population of Swansea. This service is delivered by a dedicated nursing team, with overall operational and strategic oversight provided by the Practice Manager.
Abertawe Medical Partnership is also a registered training practice for medical students and GP registrars, and the Practice Manager plays a key role in supporting and sustaining the training environment.
Main Duties
· Provide strategic leadership to the practice, setting direction in partnership with the GP partners
· Lead development and delivery of the Practice Business Plan and long-term sustainability strategy.
· Ensure full compliance with statutory, contractual and regulatory requirements
· Maintain oversight of governance frameworks, risk management, and business continuity planning
· Lead workforce strategy, including succession planning and organisational development
· Oversee contractual performance including GMS. QOF and enhanced services.
· Act as the principal liaison with external stakeholders, including Swansea Bay Health Board and Cluster partners
· Provide leadership during service change, transformation and NHS policy developments.
· Manage patient complaints process and policy
Personal Specification
Essential
· Significant management experience, ideally within primary care or the NHS
· Demonstratable experience of strategic planning and financial leadership
· Strong understanding of NHS contracts, governance and regulatory frameworks
· Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence at a senior level.
· Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills
· Ability to lead change and drive service improvement
· Good standard of education with strong literacy and numeracy skills.
Desirable
· Degree- level qualification in healthcare, business or related field
· Management qualification ILM, CIPD or equivalent
