Shifts: Rota-based, including weekends and evenings
About the Service
We are a supported accommodation service in West London providing trauma-informed support to adults experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage, including mental health needs, substance misuse, and complex social challenges.
The service works in partnership with local authorities and outreach teams to support individuals to move away from rough sleeping and rebuild independent lives.
Residents are supported through personalised support plans, focusing on areas such as:
Mental and physical health
Substance misuse recovery
Independent living skills
Education, training, and employment
Resettlement into longer-term accommodation ()
About the Role
As a Support Mentor, you will provide person-centred, strengths-based support to residents within a hostel environment. You will build positive relationships and deliver trauma-informed interventions that empower individuals to achieve sustainable change.
You will work as part of a team in a service, ensuring residents feel safe, supported, and motivated.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver 1:1 keywork sessions and develop tailored support plans
Support residents with mental health, substance misuse, and daily living skills
Promote engagement with external services (health, probation, housing, etc.)
Manage challenging behaviour using a trauma-informed and psychologically informed approach
Carry out risk assessments and safeguarding responsibilities
Maintain accurate case notes and records
Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive hostel environment
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
Passionate about supporting people experiencing homelessness and complex needs
Experienced in (or willing to learn) trauma-informed practice
Resilient, empathetic, and able to build professional boundaries
Confident managing challenging behaviours and crisis situations
A strong team player with good communication skillsDesirable:
Experience in homelessness, supported housing, or similar services
Knowledge of mental health, substance misuse, or criminal justice systems
