University Hospitals Tees is a hospital group formed by North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to enable closer working across the two organisations. Medical Physics services within the group are primarily located at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and consist of Radiotherapy Physics, Clinical Measurement, Medical Photography, and Nuclear Medicine Services.
We are looking to recruit an outstanding individual to lead the Radiotherapy Physics section of the Group Medical Physics Department, University Hospitals Tees. The successful candidate will be an experienced scientist working at consultant level with familiarity across all areas of radiotherapy physics: quality assurance, treatment planning, brachytherapy, imaging and dosimetry, with competence to act as a Medical Physic Expert. The postholder will provide scientific, clinical and professional leadership and has an essential role in ensuring safe, high-quality service delivery.

This is an exciting time for the radiotherapy service with a major capital equipment replacement program in progress. Alongside this the section has a strong track record of innovation and service development in areas such as SABR, advanced IGRT and innovative machine QA techniques. Current priorities include introducing online adaptive radiotherapy and increased usage of AI tools.
