A welcoming and high-achieving secondary school in Slough is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic English Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team from September. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent English graduate or someone with equivalent qualifications who is looking to gain experience in education.
About the Role:As an English Teaching Assistant, you will play a key part in supporting students' progress and confidence in English, both in and out of the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting pupils in English lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
* Delivering targeted literacy interventions to small groups or individual students
* Assisting with the planning and delivery of engaging lesson activities
* Providing support for students with additional learning needs, including SEN and EAL
* Helping students improve their reading, writing, and analytical skills
* Monitoring and recording student progress and providing feedback to teachers
* Creating and maintaining a positive and encouraging learning environment
This role is ideal for someone considering a future in teaching, as it offers excellent exposure to classroom dynamics and high-quality teaching practice.
Requirements:
* A degree in English or equivalent is essential
* A strong academic background with excellent literacy skills
* Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential
* A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff
