The Senior Leader, Strategic Business Management is accountable for leading system-level strategic customer engagement to deliver sustainable, profitable growth whilst shaping and executing the transformational commercial excellence agenda for the BDI UK & Ireland business. As a senior member of the BDI UK&I Leadership Team, this role plays a critical part in defining the medium- to long-term commercial strategy, ensuring BDI executes a cohesive, value-led Go-To-Market model across BDI portfolios. The Senior Leader partners closely with the CBL BDI, BU Leaders, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Value & Access, and Regional Commercial Excellence leaders to elevate BD's position with Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), Acute Trusts, Community Providers, and infection-prevention-relevant system stakeholders. A core focus of the role is to lead and mature the Strategic Business Management model, positioning BDI as a trusted system-level partner, rather than a transactional supplier, while ensuring consistent execution, capability building, and high-quality outcomes across priority customer environments.
Responsibilities
* Define and implement the 3-5-year Commercial Excellence roadmap for BDI UK&I aligned to business priorities and growth ambitions.
* Translate strategic objectives into scalable commercial frameworks, tools, and ways of working across the BDI organisation.
* Build and optimise the BDI Go-To-Market model, ensuring alignment between sales execution, value propositions, and customer needs.
* Leverage market, clinical, operational, and system-level insights to inform portfolio positioning, solution development, and opportunity prioritisation.
* Ensure strong alignment with regional and global Commercial Excellence initiatives, tailoring execution to UK&I healthcare system realities.
* Lead collaboration with BD Strategic Account Management Teams and own and lead the BDI Strategic Business Management model across priority ICTs, Acute Trusts, Private Healthcare Organisations and community-based provider systems.
* Build and maintain senior-level relationships with ICT leadership, provider executives, infection prevention leadership, procurement, and transformation stakeholders relevant to BDI.
* Ensure high-quality development, execution, and governance of Strategic Account Plans within SFDC.
* Align SBM activity with BDI field teams, Marketing, and Medical Affairs to address system-level care pathway and infection-prevention challenges.
* Provide leadership and escalation support for complex, multi-portfolio engagements and solution-based proposals.
* Define and embed Customer Success models tailored to BDI solutions across acute, community, and system-level environments.
* Establish consistent approaches to onboarding, training, adoption, optimisation, and renewal of BDI solutions.
* Support outcome-based value delivery such as infection-reduction outcomes, workflow efficiency, clinical standardisation, and improved system performance.
* Ensure customer success insights inform commercial strategy, account planning, and future solution development.
* Partner with BDI Marketing to develop clear, differentiated value propositions aligned to BDI priorities and customer needs.
* Utilise insights from NHS strategy, ICT development plans, and system-level priorities to build engagement and campaign focus.
* Continuously refine customer segmentation and prioritisation models across Trusts, ICTs, and community providers.
* Support development of clinical, operational, and health-economic evidence that demonstrates the value of BDI solutions at scale.
* Work closely with Policy, Value & Access, Market Access, and Medical Affairs to influence system-level priorities relevant to BDI.
* Enable and support evidence generation and outcome measurement for strategic BDI programmes.
* Ensure BDI solutions are positioned effectively in ICT-level planning, transformation, and investment discussions.
* Act as a trusted strategic advisor to the CBL BDI and the BDI UK&I leadership team.
* Provide direct leadership, coaching, and capability development for Strategic Account Managers, building consistency, excellence, and accountability.
* Partner with internal and regional leaders to ensure aligned customer engagement models and disciplined execution.
* Champion a culture of collaboration, commercial excellence, and customer-centricity, consistent with BD values.
Qualifications
* Strong understanding of the UK healthcare system, with experience working across acute, community, and integrated care environments.
* Proven experience driving commercial excellence, go-to-market optimisation, or strategic business leadership in MedTech or healthcare.
* Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior NHS and system-level stakeholders.
* Experience developing solution-based and outcome-driven commercial approaches.
