Northumbrian Water
Network technician

Offer description

About the role

Ready for a hands-on, outdoor role where you can make a real impact?

We’re looking for a Strategic Network Technician to join our Water Networks team. This is a practical, field-based role that’s perfect for those who enjoy working outdoors and tackling new challenges every day.

You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for keeping the water flowing by maintaining our Strategic Network, which includes reservoirs, pumping stations, large diameter water mains and control valves. You’ll work across a variety of environments and weather conditions, including confined spaces when accessing underground assets. This variety means no two days will ever feel the same.

We’ll provide comprehensive training so you can make safe, informed decisions while working on the network.

We welcome different ways of thinking, learning and problem-solving, and this role offers a great opportunity to build specialist knowledge in water networks, while taking on real operational challenges and delivering effective solutions.

You’ll play a key role in supporting operational teams across the region as well as ensuring high standards in water quality, health & safety and environmental protection.

If you’re looking for a role where you can grow, make a difference, and thrive in an outdoor, hands-on environment, we’d love to hear from you.

About you

We’re looking for someone who’s a team player but also confident working independently when needed. You’ll be a strong communicator with a natural passion for problem-solving and thinking on your feet.

Given the hands-on nature of this role, we’re looking for someone with proven skills and experience, along with the ability to work safely in environments such as confined spaces and around operational equipment, with appropriate training, support and reasonable adjustments where required.

You’ll also bring a positive attitude, a desire to learn and a flexible approach, to adapt to working both in and out of hours when required, as there is a requirement to participate in a planned out-of-hours standby rota.

A full valid UK driving licence is essential, as the role involves regular travel between operational sites.

Here at Northumbrian Water, we embrace and value Diversity, Inclusion and Equity, and encourage all colleagues to bring their most authentic self to work.

Our colleague network groups include our Rainbow Support Network (LGBTQIA+), REACH (Race, Ethnicity, and Cultural Heritage), WiSTEM (Women in STEM) and Thisability (disability and neurodiversity) networks. They provide a safe space for colleagues from diverse backgrounds, welcoming all colleagues regardless of their personal characteristics to participate in valuable conversation that improves our organisational awareness, understanding and inclusivity.

We encourage and welcome all applications, as we strive to be an equal opportunity employer, committed to having diverse communities represented within all our teams, structures, and organisation.
