North Northamptonshire Council Adult Social Care is seeking an exceptional Approved Mental Health Professional to join our dedicated AMHP Service as we continue our transformational journey.

About the Role
As an AMHP you will safeguard the wellbeing of vulnerable adults, working a rota covering 9:00am – 9:00pm and conducting statutory Mental Health Act assessments. You will work autonomously, collaborate with partner agencies, and maintain professional independence in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.

What will you be doing?
* Extensive knowledge of mental health legislation and best practice
* Strong decision‑making skills and ability to work independently

* Act as a role model, supporting colleagues and contributing to the development of excellent Adult Social Care practice
Essential Requirements
* Registered Social Worker, Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist
About you
* Registered with the relevant professional body (e.g. Social Work England, NMC, HCPC)
* Holding current AMHP approval
* Evidence of post‑qualifying experience and ongoing CPD as an AMHP
* Demonstrated experience of effective multi‑agency working (e.g. NHS, Police, Ambulance, care providers, advocacy services)
About the Team
The North Northamptonshire AMHP Team delivers the statutory requirement for AMHP provision under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007). This part of the 24‑hour AMHP Service is based at Haylock House, Kettering and supports both North and West Northamptonshire local authority areas. The role operates on a rolling rota of day shifts.
Salary & Benefits
* NNCSC Pay Band 22: £48,226 – £51,356 Pro Rata
* £2,000 Advanced Practitioner Allowance
* 28 days annual leave per year (pro‑rata for part‑time employees), bank holidays; increased to 30 days after 2 years’ service and 33 days after 5 years
* Business mileage paid at 45p per mile
* Free DBS check according to job role
