About the Role:
The role exists to optimize existing product packaging, delivering efficiency and cost benefits while meeting the needs of commercial stakeholders. The role holder will also lead the development of packaging for new products, from concept/brief through to first commercial production and in-store delivery.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Apply the packaging catalogue implementation principles to the site
* Champion packaging development (existing and new)
* Ensure product packaging assessments meet defined requirements and specifications
* Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders (e.g., commercial teams, packaging manufacturers)
* Develop and lead T&R packaging sustainability initiatives
* Utilize supplier resources to ensure optimal use of materials, reliability data, service, and quality
* Approve technical packaging and associated change controls
* Create new pallet patterns and optimize where appropriate
* Provide packaging data (weights, recyclability) for internal & external reports
* Attend industry events, benchmark packaging, and evaluate new packaging technology
* Lead packaging trials and factory process optimization regarding critical packaging components
* Understand factory production capabilities and constraints
* Support NPD in adhering to procedures aligned with critical paths
* Liaise with marketing, purchasing, and production teams
* Keep up-to-date with technological innovations to identify opportunities for improvement
* Stay informed about packaging regulations
* Conduct Gemba walks to improve site adherence to GMP, H&S, and OPEX
* Lead initiatives for supply/cost savings and optimizations
* Measure performance through key performance indicators (KPIs)

* A packaging or scientific-related degree or equivalent
* Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
* Strong experience in a packaging development/technologist role with exposure to cGMP
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to analyze data and make recommendations
* A motivated and enthusiastic self-starter
* Good teamworking abilities
* Familiarity with current regulations and internal systems
