AI Solutions Development Engineer
Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire (hybrid working)
We are looking for a highly motivated AI Solutions Development Engineer to help shape the future of Generative AI across the Spirax Group. In this role, you will apply your deep technical expertise in multi-agent, multi-modal GenAI solution development – and your passion for supporting and guiding others – to uplift GenAI capability across the organisation.
You will deliver showcase GenAI projects using agile lean-startup methodologies: from use-case capture and prioritisation through to solution design, prototype development, hypothesis testing, and ultimately scaled implementation supported by change management. Solutions will be delivered through a blend of your own development work and collaboration with trusted third-party partners.
Working alongside cross-functional teams across the Group, you will ensure that GenAI initiatives are delivered safely, ethically, and successfully – all while helping shape our long-term AI strategy, ways of working, and governance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Group-wide Gen AI Capability Development:
* Deliver showcase GenAI solutions that demonstrate value, feasibility, and scalable patterns to teams across the Group.
* Apply agile lean-startup methodology including use-case capture, assessment and prioritisation, solution design, validation, development, testing, and scaled implementation.
* Provide guidance, coaching, and training to colleagues to help them build and maintain their own GenAI development skills.
GenAI Solution Development Best Practice:
* Collaborate with IT/IS, business units, and specialist GenAI teams to define and maintain shared methodologies, development standards, and tooling.
* Identify barriers to progress and work proactively with stakeholders to remove them permanently.
Innovation & Research:
* Track emerging trends and technologies within the GenAI ecosystem and share insights across the Group.
* Identify opportunities to adopt new capabilities and integrate them into future GenAI solutions.
Governance & Compliance:
* Contribute to the development and rollout of the Group’s GenAI governance framework (ethical, secure, and compliant deployment at scale).
* Create and maintain essential documentation including design specs, test plans, ethics assessments, compliance evaluations, and user guides/FAQs.
Stakeholder Communication & Project Coordination:
* Communicate complex technical details in clear business language to a wide range of stakeholders.
* Provide transparent project updates to support informed decision-making.
Your Experience
* Experience developing multi-agent, multi-modal GenAI solutions, from prototype through to secure, supported production deployment.
* Experience supporting and mentoring others to develop their own GenAI capabilities.
* A track record of successfully collaborating with stakeholders to embed AI solutions into existing business practices.
Your Qualifications & Skills
* Proven expertise across the GenAI methodology (use case capture, prioritisation, solution & validation design, development, hypothesis testing, scaled implementation via change management).
* Strong technical experience with the Microsoft stack, including: Microsoft Agent Framework and Relevant Azure services.
* Preferably experienced with integrating Copilot Studio with the Power Platform and Azure DevOps for managing simple Azure-based solutions.
* Experiences with building multi-agent/multi-modal solutions on non-Microsoft platforms (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, AWS, etc.).
* Solid experience with: CI/CD pipelines (Git, GitHub), Programming languages, GenAI frameworks, and data wrangling tools (e.g., Python, R, pandas, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, LangChain, n8n).
* Familiarity with agile development (preferably agile lean startup).
* Masters or PhD in a relevant field (AI, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Robotics, or similar), or equivalent practical experience in applied machine learning.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
* A passion for emerging technology and helping shape the Group’s digital future.
Core Requirements
You must be capable of building AI-agent-enhanced workflows using the Microsoft stack across both pro-code and low/no-code environments.
