Founding AI Engineer | Python, LLMs, RAG | VC-Backed PropTech Rebuilding How People Rent and Buy
* Salary: £100,000 - £120,000 + equity
* Location: London (Hoxton) – 5 days/week in-office
I’m working with a very early-stage AI company that’s taking a proper swing at the property market. They’re a small founding team, backed by well-known early-stage investors, already live with customers across the UK and starting to see traction in the US. You’d be joining at the point where the product is real, in use, and messy in the way good early products are, with plenty still to figure out.
The focus is building an AI-led platform that replaces large parts of how estate and letting agents operate today. Right now, that world still runs on phone calls, spreadsheets and manual processes. They’re building something that handles tenant communication, operations, compliance and transactions through AI agents instead.
What They're Looking For
* Python
* FastAPI
* LLMs (production systems)
* AI agent frameworks (LangGraph or similar)
* RAG pipelines
* Postgres
* Redis
* Async processing and queuing (Celery, RabbitMQ, SQS)
* Event-driven architecture
* CI/CD pipelines
What You'll Work With
* Python backend services
* LLM orchestration layers
* Vector databases (Pinecone, pgvector or similar)
* API integrations (CRMs, property systems)
* TypeScript
* React
* Next.js
Nice to Haves
* Voice and telephony systems (Twilio, SIP, WebRTC)
* STT/TTS pipelines (Deepgram, ElevenLabs or similar)
* Messaging integrations (WhatsApp Business API)
* Observability tooling (Datadog, Sentry, LangSmith)
* Previous founding engineer experience
Being a founding engineer or an ex-founder from any company backed by Antler or Entrepreneurs First is preferred but not required.
Why Join / Projects
The interesting bit here is the scope. You’re not coming in to optimise an existing platform or slot into a defined team. You’re building the core “brain” of the product from the ground up, including how AI agents interact, make decisions, and operate in real-world workflows.
They’re starting with agency operations, but the longer-term play is much bigger. Think matching tenants and buyers to properties, handling transactions end-to-end, and effectively sitting on both sides of the marketplace. There’s a clear path from what you build today to something that underpins a much larger platform.
You’ll have full ownership of systems from day one. That includes architectural decisions, tooling choices, and how things scale as usage grows. It’s the kind of environment where you can move quickly, but you’ll also feel the consequences of your decisions in production.
It’s also worth being clear, this is an in-office, high-commitment setup. The team is small, the pace is high, and a lot is still undefined. If you like autonomy and building from scratch, it’s a strong fit. If you prefer structure and clearly defined boundaries, it probably isn’t.
Employee Benefits
* Equity as part of the founding team
* Private health insurance
* Uber home if working late
* Dinner in the office
* Fortnightly home clean
* New MacBook
If this sounds like your kind of environment, apply and I’ll talk you through it properly.
