The base timetable is based around a Specialty grade 10 PA contract.
The successful candidate will provide some daytime and out of hours anaesthetic and critical care services. In addition, they will provide anaesthesia within theatres such that the total hours worked falls within their contract.
The exact nature of the duties will be formalised after discussion with the successful applicant.
All non-trainee staff are required to have a job plan setting out their main duties and responsibilities, including a work programme specifying their weekly timetable.
Specialties covered at RBH include: elective orthopaedics, colorectal, urology, upper GI, vascular, breast, endocrine, gynaecology, interventional cardiology, interventional radiology and endoscopy. Obstetrics, head and neck, trauma and paediatrics are all based at Poole Hospital.
The actual job plan of the successful candidate(s) will be based on the needs of the directorate and the skills/experience/clinical interests of the applicants.
The post holder is expected to participate in the Directorate's half day Clinical Governance meetings (6 per annum) maintain their own skills and competencies through Continual Professional Development (CPD), participate in Clinical Audit and Effectiveness work and Research and Development, as appropriate.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Recognised basic Medical Degree
2. Full GMC registration
3. 3 years’ experience in the speciality at Senior House Officer/Core Training level or higher or its equivalence
4. Successful completion of ALS (or equivalent) in last 4 years.
Desirable criteria
5. Postgraduate qualification in Anaesthesia or equivalent
6. FRCA examination or equivalent
7. Three years minimum in a recognised Anaesthesia postgraduate training programme
8. APLS or similar paediatric life support qualification
Knowledge
Essential criteria
9. Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required to enter UK Anaesthesia Speciality Training.
10. Ability to deliver anaesthesia care for (with distance supervision) of ASA 1-3 cases.
11. Clinical training and experience to act as Critical Care Unit resident doctor with non-resident Consultant Supervision.
12. Sound general medical knowledge.
13. Ability to perform within a multidisciplinary team.
14. All round general experience in anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia and intensive care
15. An understanding of the NHS management structure and clinical governance
16. Willing to work as part of a team and share management and administrative responsibility.
Desirable criteria
17. Completion of equivalent of SHO/CT2 level competency based programme.
18. Evidence of involvement in research projects
19. Completion of equivalent of stage 1 competency based programme in critical care
20. Presentation at professional meetings
Skills

21. Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required to enter UK Anaesthesia Speciality Training.
22. Ability to deliver anaesthesia care for (with distance supervision) of ASA 1-3 cases.

26. Evidence of ability to place a central venous line with distant supervision equivalent to entrustment scale 3 (supervisor on-call from home)
27. Evidence of ability to intubate a critically unwell adult patient with distant supervision equivalent to entrustment scale 3 (supervisor on-call from home)
