We are seeking a contractor to join our growing Statistical Innovation group as a Statistical Science Associate Director. Our focus is providing statistical methodology support across all phases of clinical development for divisions including Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolism, Respiratory & Immunology, Oncology, Rare Diseases, and Vaccines.
In this role, you will be part of the Respiratory Biometrics and Statistical Innovation department, leveraging data-driven approaches to work efficiently and creatively, ensuring the right medicines reach the right patients. Our team utilizes statistical expertise and programming to address drug development objectives and reduce uncertainties, supporting better business decisions.
Main duties and responsibilities
As part of a team of statistical methodology experts, you will provide key insights and solutions during critical stages of drug development. This technically challenging work requires delivering pragmatic solutions within tight timelines, focusing on first solutions followed by refinement.
You will contribute to or lead capability building in areas such as:
* Design of early and late-phase clinical studies, including group sequential and adaptive designs using both frequentist and Bayesian methods.
* Analysis methods for real-time data, Estimands, Missing Data, Subgroups, and Biomarkers.
Additionally, you will offer expert consultancy to statisticians, medical scientists, and other stakeholders. This includes strategic activities like capability development, improving clinical trial design and analysis, publishing research, presenting findings, and collaborating externally with scientific and regulatory bodies. A proactive approach to identifying new areas for Statistical Innovation and building external scientific relationships is also expected.
Requirements:
* PhD in Statistics or related field, with experience in academic research or clinical drug development.
* Proven ability to deliver innovative statistical solutions in applied settings, including design and analysis of clinical trials, real-time data analysis, missing data, estimands, subgroups, and biomarkers.
* Strong programming skills in R and/or SAS.
* Excellent collaborative skills across global teams.
* Research record with publications in reputable statistical journals.
* Passion for applying scientific expertise to practical, patient-benefiting problems.
* Knowledge or experience in safety data analysis, observational studies, meta-analyses, Bayesian methods, non-linear and mixed-effects models.
* Awareness of current scientific and regulatory issues in statistics.
