About the Role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor within Water and Environment you will support our team in delivering complex infrastructure schemes, working on large capital programmes for water companies.
Key Responsibilities
* Support water companies in delivering large capital programmes, providing an essential service and improving the environment.
* Provide commercial support to a large project or programme of works.
* Ensure robust estimates aligned to scope and accounting for all risks and opportunities.
* Manage commercial inputs to procurement, developing and agreeing strategies.
* Ensure contracts are properly managed in accordance with requirements, responding to communications, payments and programme submissions.
* Ensure robust cost management at all times.
* Proactively manage project and programme risk, implementing mitigation plans.
* Develop strong client relationships across the organisation.
* Monitor that technical solutions meet standards, legal obligations and client requirements.
* Use a systematic approach to examine situations from different perspectives.
* Gather relevant information to reach decisions, weighing options and risks.
* Make well-reasoned, timely decisions based on client and team needs.
* Involve and consult stakeholders affected by decisions.
* Maintain and grow existing client relationships to anticipate needs.
Required Qualifications
* Chartered Surveyor, ideally MRICS, with a degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying.
* Experience with NEC Contracts and other target cost or cost‑reimbursable contracts.
* Experience in delivering commercial and contractual elements of heavy infrastructure projects.
* Experience in contract management.
* Background working within a consultancy or main contracting environment.
* Ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
* Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues.
* Excellent presentation and communication skills.
* Flexible approach to work.
* Technically and commercially aware, able to deliver on post‑contract service and solve problems.
* Proactive and self‑motivated.
* Strong commercial knowledge.
* Effective time management, adding value to projects.
* Customer focus with ability to engage in sound relationships with the customer project team.
Preferred (but not essential)
* Knowledge and expertise in the water/wastewater industry sector.
