Support Medical Secretary – Gynaecology

The role provides administrative and secretarial support to the Gynaecology team including diary management, audio transcription, word processing of clinical letters, production of reports, and correspondence. The post holder is also expected to provide telephone cover and cross‑cover colleagues during leave or sickness.
Main Duties
* Diary management & scheduling appointments.
* Audio transcription and word processing of clinical letters.
* Production of reports and other correspondence.
* Telephone cover as required.
* Cross‑cover colleagues of same or other bandings during leave or sickness.
* Processing referrals, monitoring 18‑week RTT, fast‑track referrals, and waiting lists.
* Booking, cancelling and rescheduling appointments, cashing up clinics.
* Acting as focal point for information, messages, and enquiries for the medical team.
Person Specification
Experience
* Face‑to‑face and/or telephone contact with the general public.
* Support/Medical Secretary experience.
Skills
* Literacy and numeracy.
* Excellent keyboard skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing tasks.
* Shorthand.
Knowledge
* Information Governance and confidentiality.
* Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, email, internet).
* Patient Administration System (or equivalent).
* Medical terminology.
* National 18‑week RTT policy.
Qualifications
* GCSE or equivalent.
* Advanced secretarial qualifications.
* Medical Secretary Diploma.
