About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and respectful Cemeteries Operative to join our Grounds Maintenance team. You will play an important role in maintaining our cemeteries to a high standard and assisting with the preparation and completion of burials and related duties.
This is a sensitive and rewarding role, providing a valued service to the local community at times of need.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare graves and cremation plots in accordance with relevant legislation and safety standards.
Carry out interments and assist funeral directors and mourners in a professional and respectful manner.
Maintain cemetery grounds, memorials, and landscaped areas, including but not limited to grass cutting, strimming, blowing, and general upkeep.
Operate and maintain equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.
Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Support colleagues across Bereavement Services when required.
About You
You will have:
Experience in burial and or cremation services.
Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a similar outdoor environment.
An understanding of health and safety regulations.
The ability to work sensitively and respectfully with members of the public.
You should also be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and as part of a small, supportive team.
Alongside this youll need to be a competent, dependable, and motivated individual with a keen eye for detail.
A full UK driving licence is essential.
