Role Overview
The Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) will transport elderly, sick and vulnerable patients to medical appointments and between healthcare facilities, while providing compassion and support. The role requires empathy, resilience and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive patients with varying health and mobility needs to and from hospital/clinic appointments.
* Assist, move and handle patients, including using appropriate equipment (carry chair, stretchers, wheelchairs).
* Ensure safety and patient welfare at all times, providing reassurance, comfort and support.
* Assist patients when entering and leaving their homes.
* Maintain cleanliness of vehicle and equipment.
* Liaise with central control team to ensure timely pick‑up and drop‑off.
* Undertake patient and vehicle risk assessments, complete reports and documentation.
About You / Qualifications
* Full UK Manual Driving Licence – essential.
* Effective and resilient under pressure, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Team‑player with a sympathetic, respectful and caring attitude towards patients.
* Flexible and adaptable to changing service needs.
