An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate or Senior Associate to join a growing Restructuring and Insolvency team within a national law firm in Birmingham. This well-established Restructuring and Banking team has extensive experience advising a wide range of financial institutions, asset-based lenders, and insolvency practitioners. Instructions are regularly received from leading accountancy firms, including those in the top tier and boutique specialists. With national reach and deep commercial insight, the team delivers tailored legal solutions across the full spectrum of corporate restructuring and insolvency matters. The team's expertise is acknowledged in leading legal directories. The successful candidate will work closely with an experienced partner and a senior national team to advise on a broad range of recovery and insolvency matters. This includes acting for lenders and insolvency practitioners, offering timely, pragmatic, and commercially focused advice. The role involves engaging directly with businesses, directors, and individuals navigating financial challenges, ensuring efficient and cost-effective case management within defined service levels. Key Responsibilities: Handling both contentious and non-contentious insolvency work Drafting a range of legal documents, including: Documents for the out-of-court appointment of administrators Sale and purchase agreements General court applications Advisory letters, witness statements, and briefs to counsel Advising on business sales in distressed circumstances Providing advice to lenders and insolvency practitioners across various insolvency scenarios Reviewing and reporting on security instruments and financial structures Managing antecedent transactions and director conduct claims Drafting applications for administration extensions, remuneration approval, block transfers, and orders for sale or possession Handling bankruptcy and winding-up petitions, including court attendance Candidate Requirements: UK qualified solicitor Proven experience in both contentious and non-contentious insolvency matters Strong legal drafting skills A practical and solution-oriented approach Commercial awareness and a desire to support business development initiatives For more information on this opportunity and to have a confidential chat please contact Helen Abrahams.
