The Position: Mechanical Package Manager - Nuclear Decommissioning

Vulcain Engineering UK are seeking an experienced Mechanical Package Manager to lead the planning and delivery of complex mechanical and piping decommissioning packages within a major, safety-critical decommissioning programme.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Mechanical Package Manager will include:

* Review and challenge decommissioning strategies, applying lessons learned from previous programmes
* Advise on programme phasing, priorities, and critical engineering decisions

* Develop detailed decommissioning plans for mechanical and piping systems, minimising disruption to surrounding activities
* Carry out site assessments to identify mechanical and piping assets for isolation or removal
* Coordinate decommissioning schedules with waste, logistics, demolition teams, and other site interfaces
* Perform risk assessments and implement effective hazard mitigation measures
* Resolve delivery challenges using experience-led, practical engineering solutions
* Work closely with contractors, demolition teams, and facility managers to ensure safe and efficient execution
* Oversee system documentation, inspections, testing, and status reporting before and after decommissioning
* Produce technical reports, presentations, and briefings on strategy, risks, progress, and delivery

Preferred Profile:

Alongside a commitment to our values of Care & Compassion, Performance, Team Spirit, and Inclusiveness, we are looking for individuals who can bring the following:

* Good understanding of the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
* Extensive experience in decommissioning, demolition, or facility decommissioning environments

Please note that visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs. Many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance, meaning we can often only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK. Exceptionally, we may consider visa sponsorship for applicants with niche experience aligned to our core work (e.g. EPR/nuclear new build).

We offer a competitive salary tailored to your experience and background. Whether you're earlier in your career or bring more senior-level expertise, we encourage you to apply if this role aligns with your skills, or if you're open to discussing other opportunities within this discipline.
