TLTP are looking for a full time long term SEN TA to work in an SEN school in Chelmsford, Essex. This special school caters for children who have severe and/or complex learning difficulties, PMLD, ASD, ADHD, complex medical needs and severe learning difficulties. This role is full time and will become permanent for the right person. Please only apply if you want to work in a specialist SEN school and have some experience with the below.
Responsibilities
* Experience supporting pupils with ASD or complex needs
* Collaborate with classroom staff to define appropriate activities for pupils in relation to the curriculum
* Assess children with long or short-term learning difficulties and work with colleagues to identify individual pupils’ needs
* Liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists
* Work closely with parents and guardians
* Organise learning outside the classroom in activities such as community visits, school outings or sporting events
* Assist severely disabled pupils with personal care/medical needs
* Administration, including updating and maintaining records of pupils progress
* Attend statutory annual reviews or related meetings (e.g., Looked After Child reviews) regarding students with a SEN, including EHC plans
* Receive in-service training
Qualifications / Requirements
* Experience working with ASD or complex needs
* Ideally experience in PECS or MAKATON
* Willing to provide personal care
* Ability to work in a challenging environment
* Passion for working with children with complex disabilities
* Excellent behaviour management skills
* Ability to build positive relationships with young people and staff
* Good knowledge/experience working with children with ASD/complex needs within a special needs environment
* Experience working with primary-aged pupils in SEN settings
* Collaborate with teachers to deliver appropriate activities aligned to the curriculum
* Commitment to safeguarding and safeguarding reporting procedures
* Willingness to participate in mandatory training and development
