Consultant in Care of the Elderly

We are looking for a consultant Geriatrician to join our team. This part‑time post is within the Department of Care of the Elderly (COTE) at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. Applicants who wish to consider job sharing or part‑time are welcomed. The post works in an integrated fashion with existing consultant staff to deliver an expansion of services for older people and support major new service developments at Hospital of St Cross, Rugby and University Hospital, Coventry. Opportunities exist to pursue sub‑specialty interests and develop new services including Community Geriatric services; Care of Elderly Major Trauma patients; Frailty Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC); Ambulatory and Hot clinics; Surgical liaison services; and Oncogeriatric service. We also collaborate with other specialties to set up services such as joint Heart Failure services, movement disorder clinic and Fracture Liaison service.
Job responsibilities
• Deliver care for older patients across the Trust, including management of frailty, complex geriatric conditions and major trauma.
• Collaborate with COTE consultant staff to expand services for older people, including the development of new community and specialist services.
• Participate in the UHCW Improvement (UHCWi) System – attend and complete required training such as Lean for Leaders, Advanced Lean Training and Human Factors Programme.
