About The Role The opportunity to work within a dynamic and diverse regional Building Consultancy team in Birmingham, with market leading professionals, advising global clients in a full range of consultancy services through the full life cycle of property. What the role will entail Chartered Building Surveyor undertaking a wide range of instructions across the building consultancy discipline, and provide best in class advice to a variety of clients across all sectors from investors; occupiers; landlords and tenants. The role involves direct client liaison and management, with an emphasis on developing relationships and a network within the sector that will last a career. The role will be predominately office based to ensure full integration with both the team and wider Knight Frank colleagues. Dynamic working practices are fully adopted and embraced, albeit with an overriding emphasis on what is best for the team. What you will be responsible for Responsibilities: Increasing the range, quantity and quality of instructions via business generation to ensure development of the department. Understand the need to work commercially to ensure profitability of instructions. Meet set fee income and instruction targets and contribute to profitability of the department. Maintain and grow existing and new client relationships. Role / Experience: Project management and contract administration. Preparation of specifications. Party walls, dilapidations, and landlord and tenant advice. Pre-acquisition surveys and Technical due-diligence. Preparing and checking Schedules of Condition, defects analysis and building pathology. Understanding of all relevant statutory legislation. Producing Reinstatement Cost Assessments. Professional Standards: Ability to clearly define the client’s requirements, promoting additional services where appropriate. Meet all deadlines set for the completion of work whilst keeping clients fully informed throughout. Ability to manage own diary and time requirements. Ensure consistently high level of professional conduct. Team: Contribute proactively to the team spirit of the department and adopt a growth mindset Act in a collaborative manner at all times. What experience you will need Systems & IT competence AutoCAD (preferred although not essential) Microsoft Project Microsoft Word, Excel NBS Specification writer experience required: Qualifications/Education required MRICS qualified Particular Aptitudes / Skills Required Ability to measure buildings in accordance with RICS Code of Practice Working understanding of JCT Contracts A full technical understanding of the components of commercial building types and ability to describe the constructional elements and associated defects. The capacity for accuracy, attention to detail, and an orderly approach to work and numeracy. The ability to communicate facts clearly and in writing and to produce formal reports Willingness and flexibility to work loyally as part of a team. The personality to engage with other professionals and general public alike in promoting the firm in a professional manner.
