Grounds Operative - Manual Labour Description We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Grounds Operative to join our team and support the maintenance and upkeep of outdoor spaces through manual labour. This role involves performing a variety of physical tasks that contribute to the cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic appeal of parks, gardens, sports fields, and other public or private outdoor areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out grounds maintenance duties such as landscaping, clearing debris, waste removal, and supporting general manual tasks that ensure our outdoor environments are well maintained and welcoming. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, have a strong work ethic, and are comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. You will be expected to operate basic grounds maintenance equipment and tools safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Perform manual grounds maintenance tasks such as digging, planting, and weeding to maintain outdoor spaces. Collect and remove litter, debris, and waste to ensure areas are clean and safe. Assist with turf maintenance including mowing, edging, and watering. Operate and maintain basic hand tools and machinery used in groundskeeping. Load and unload materials and equipment necessary for grounds maintenance activities. Support the setup and dismantling of outdoor equipment or structures as required. Work collaboratively with team members to complete assigned tasks efficiently and safely. Requirements Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour, including lifting and operating tools. Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Basic knowledge of groundskeeping or landscaping practices is preferred. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team. Good time management skills and reliability in attendance and task completion. Experience operating manual grounds maintenance equipment is an advantage.
