The Department of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology (Please see website at https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/archaeology-classics-and-egyptology/) is seeking to appoint a colleague to a fixed term (1 September 2025 – 30 June 2026) 0.7 FTE teaching and scholarship post in Classics / Classical Studies (including Greek and Latin language). The post arises from research leave occasioned by the award of a Fellowship by the Loeb Classical Library Foundation to Dr Vasiliki Zali-Schiel for the academic year 2025-26.
The person(s) appointed will be expected to participate in a broad range of teaching primarily aimed at students taking programmes of study in Ancient History, Classics and Classical Studies. Teaching duties will include Greek and Latin language, as well as teaching of ancient literature and culture, and a desirable attribute would be the ability to contribute to the teaching of a second-year module on Herodotus’ *Histories*. As well as participating in taught UG and PGT modules, there will also be UG dissertation supervision.
You should have a PhD in a related subject and a Good Honours degree or equivalent qualification in a classical subject.
Unfortunately, this role is not eligible for sponsorship under the skilled worker route, you will therefore have to demonstrate your own right to work in the UK.
