 
        
        Health & Safety Officer (Part Time, 6 Month Contract)
Location: West Lancashire College
Rate: £20 £22 per hour (equivalent to £40k FTE) plus holiday pay
Hours: 2 3 days per week (flexible days)
Contract: Temporary, 6 months
The Supply Register is proud to be working in partnership with NCG West Lancashire College to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Officer to support the College on a wide range of health and safety matters.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and knowledgeable Health & Safety professional to play a key role in maintaining compliance, promoting best practice, and supporting staff and students across the College.
Key Responsibilities
 * Carry out routine health and safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with NCG policies and procedures
 * Review and assist with the completion of risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and other safety documentation
 * Provide advice and support on health and safety enquiries from staff, students, and contractors
 * Deliver health and safety training and briefings to College staff
 * Investigate accidents and incidents, ensuring appropriate follow up actions are taken
 * Support and contribute to College Health & Safety Committee meetings and prepare relevant reports
 * Assist the Estates Department with fire safety, including fire drills, risk assessments, and emergency procedures
 * Monitor PPMs and statutory compliance documentation to maintain high safety standards
 * Stay up to date with relevant legislation and best practice in occupational health and safety
About You
 * Qualified to NEBOSH standard (minimum requirement)
 * Holds a current DBS (issued within the last 12 months or registered on the update service)
 * Experienced in education or health and social care settings and able to consider reasonable adjustments for students
 * Confident in reviewing risk assessments, implementing safety inspections, and managing accident investigations
 * Knowledgeable in statutory compliance and planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
 * A strong communicator, organised, and proactive in promoting a safe working environment
