The CCTV Controller is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Control Room for one of the world’s biggest law firms in Canary Wharf. Managing shift operational requirements in line with customer and contractual expectations. Requiring excellent communication skills, the position of Controller demands a consistently strong focus on prompt and efficient customer care and a commitment to protecting the people, property and assets of the customer as part of the wider Security Team. Be calm under pressure and confident in dealing with confrontational situations. Able to work as part of a team as well as on your own. Highly proficient and confident in the use of Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft 365 applications. Ability to work under pressure in an dynamic and changing environment. Level 3 Management qualification is desirable. Job Responsibilities: Responsible for operating and monitoring all life safety, access control and loss prevention systems. To proactively monitor the CCTV system across the site, report and document all unusual/unsafe activity, and take appropriate action as required. To report all incidents in compliance with customer and company policy and procedures. Report and log in designated documents all building utility/ service/ life safety issues to the appropriate responders and Security Management. Notify, assist and direct external emergency personnel and internal emergency response teams as necessary. Ensure that all security personnel always adhere to their duties and policies, and procedures of the site, reporting any breach of these to the Duty Security Manager and the Security Manager. Monitor the movements and locations of security personnel to expedite service requests and emergency responses and ensure employee safety. Maintain a high level of morale and discipline within the team, taking their welfare in consideration. Carry out training with Security Officers and ensure that there are suitable personnel on your shift able to step up and cover your role in your absence. Respond to system alarms globally and notify the appropriate response resources as directed. Keep and/or document detailed records of activities as they occur during the shift on Merlin. Initiate all emergency notification calls, including 999 or other emergency services assistance requests, and possess extensive knowledge of on-site emergency response procedures. Ensure all incidents and issues are formally investigated and recorded and all the logs filled in accordingly. Responsible for adequately operating and monitoring all security systems, telephone, radio and intercom communication systems. Assist with developing and implementing security policies and procedures to ensure services comply with current company/industry policy. Ensure standards and guidelines consistently meet or exceed customer expectations. Mitigate staff absence by arranging emergency cover. Escalating, where needed, to the CIS Control Room. Carry out daily security control room system checks and complete daily and monthly tests. Responsible for keeping up to date with all events that are taking place on-site and ensuring that all the requests to security are fulfilled(e.g. program doors and barriers to be open at certain times, arranging escorts, etc.) Assist the security management team in providing any training to the team. Issuing temporary access cards to Clifford Chance staff and updating passes locally and globally. Arranging key replacements for the offices when requested and completing necessary information. Provide feedback on operating processes, team processes and procedures to ensure continuous improvement. Responsible for the administration of lost & found property out of hours. Participate in professional development courses and demonstrate improved job knowledge and skills. To be the first point of contact for security function-related queries, escalating all queries and complaints with regard to security practices to the Security Management Team. Responding to all telephone calls and emails in a timely and professional manner. Utilising a variety of software packages not limited to, but notably, CCure 9000, Merlin, Sky Visitor Permit System, ISOS and Kone Lift Visualisation software and able to learn new systems as and when introduced. Assist Security Management Team with any administrative tasks. Able to operate and communicate through a building PA system. To ensure the highest standards of customer care are maintained at all times when dealing with staff, contractors, colleagues and visitors to the site. Carry out any reasonable requests made by CIS management and the client. Ensure the Security Control Room is kept tidy.
