NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to over 1.15 million people, expanding to 2.2 million with regional and national services.
The position involves shift patterns of 5/7 per week, 8:00-16:00 and 8:00-15:30. Applicants must have a live PIN with the NMC UK.
We have an exciting opportunity at HMP Greenock for a Staff Nurse to support mental health care services for inmates. The role is primarily based at HMP Greenock but may involve movement between prison sites as needed. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team, providing assessments and interventions to meet healthcare needs and contribute to prison healthcare development.
* 1st Level Registered Mental Health Nurse, educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Experience in a relevant clinical setting.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development and post-basic study relevant to the role.
* Understanding of legal, professional, and clinical accountability, including the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
* Willingness to complete Non-Medical Prescribing training.
* Full driving license.
Knowledge of prison healthcare needs, including primary care, mental health, women’s health, and addiction support, is essential.
