Surgical Staff Nurse
Band 5 £33,247 - £41,424 (pro rata)
Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,406 (pro rata)
25 hrs per week

The above post has arisen in Surgical Ward/ Day surgery Unit, Western Isles Hospital. This busy 18 bedded surgical ward provides care for acute and elective General Surgical in-patients, gynaecology and urology cases. We also have an established orthopaedic service with elective and trauma work being undertaken. There will also be an opportunity to work in the day surgery unit on a rotational basis. There will be opportunities for the successful candidate to undertake continuous learning and develop their practical skills as required.
Applicants should be committed to providing a high standard of care and interact well within a multi-disciplinary team. Applicants should be able to work well under pressure It would be desirable but not essential for the successful candidate to have previous surgical and orthopaedic experience and be proficient in cannulation, venepuncture and administration of IV drugs. Completion of the ILS course would also be desirable. Opportunities will be given for the successful candidate to obtain these skills if not already proficient.
Day/night rotation is an essential requirement for this post as is working 12 hour shifts.
