Stepgates is a forward-thinking, well-resourced mainstream primary school with a Specialist Centre for 25 children with speech, language, and communication needs. We pride ourselves on creating an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
We are looking to appoint an Early Years Keyworker to work full time as part of our experienced team in our Nursery Class. With a double-sized, bright welcoming classroom, Sunbeams Nursery welcomes children from 2 years of age to school readiness age, with up to 32 children per session. With the support of the Class Teacher, the successful candidate will become part of our nurturing and hardworking team supporting their key children.
About the Role
•Start Date: 1st September 2026
•Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 3:15pm
•Focus: Supporting children in Nursery
•Contract: Term-time only
•Duration: 1 year fixed term with a view to become permanent
We are seeking an Early Years Keyworker who:
• has a sound knowledge of effective EYFS curriculum and practice;
• holds a recognised NVQ 3 qualification in childcare (this is desirable, not essential);
• has a desire to work in an energetic and creative Early Years environment;
• has a belief in inclusion, diversity and the right of each child to be successful whatever their needs, abilities and background;
• is able to inspire, motivate and foster excellent relationships, working in partnership with staff, parents, governors and our wider community;
• has good inter-personal skills, a sense of humour and the ability to work as part of a hardworking, enthusiastic and committed team;
• is committed to their own professional development and is keen to make a significant contribution to the life of our school;
• Will be prepared to record children’s progress on an electronic learning journey – Tapestry (training can be provided).
Knowledge of working with SEND children would be of benefit.
