Verification Engineer – AI CHIP
ALL LEVELS
Cutting-edge fabless chip design start-up developing next gen AI chips
Edinburgh, Bristol, Cambridge
This is a unique opportunity to join a UK start-up that has recently secured significant funding following several years of groundbreaking innovation by its co-founders.
This full-time, on-site role is suitable for Verification Engineers at all levels. You will join a rapidly growing silicon design team working on a state-of-the-art AI ASIC. Part of the role is to ensure the functional correctness of complex AI accelerator designs. You will develop advanced verification environments and drive coverage to ensure first‑silicon success.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with design teams to develop verification strategies for AI accelerator blocks and full SoC subsystems.
* Build SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches, including test plans, monitors, checkers, and constrained-random stimulus.
* Perform coverage-driven and assertion-based verification; analyse functional and code coverage to identify and close gaps.
* Debug complex hardware–software interactions, reproduce silicon issues in simulation, and work closely with architecture, RTL, and software teams to resolve problems.
* Develop scalable verification frameworks spanning unit-level simulation, emulation, and post-silicon validation, including high-level models and test generators.
Ideal Qualifications
* Experience in design verification for CPU, GPU, NPU, or AI accelerator IP.
* Strong expertise in SystemVerilog, UVM, and scripting languages (Python/C++/Perl/TCL).
* Solid understanding of computer architecture, memory hierarchies, and standard bus protocols (AMBA/AXI, NoC).
* Experience with formal verification and assertion-based methodologies; knowledge of low-power verification techniques is a plus.
As a start-up, you can expect an attractive compensation package, including shares, performance and company bonuses, and a competitive base salary. The environment will be fast-paced, challenging, and highly rewarding, offering the chance to play a key role in shaping the company’s culture and technical direction.
