About the role
As a Supermarket Assistant Branch Cook, you'll work in the back-of-house of one of our shops in the Partner Dining Room, providing hot and cold food for Partners during their break times.
When not in the kitchen, you'll support the wider shop floor team as a Supermarket Assistant, delivering excellent service and passionate food offerings that distinguish us from competitors.
Key Responsibilities
As a Branch Cook, your responsibilities include:
1. The smooth operation of the kitchen with support from the management team.
2. Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe kitchen environment.
3. Managing portion control, food preparation, storage, and waste reduction to protect profits.
4. Adhering to high standards of food hygiene.
When assisting on the shop floor, your tasks involve:
1. Stock replenishment to ensure shelves are well-stocked and products are correctly placed.
2. Fulfilling online customer orders for delivery.
3. Reducing wastage through proper product management and markdowns.
4. Supporting shop team tasks like checkout, Click & Collect, and on-demand orders.
5. Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Experience as a cook in catering or hospitality.
* Passion for food and serving nutritious menus.
* Customer-focused with the ability to engage Partners with the food on offer.
* Commercial awareness to drive sales and control costs/wastage.
* Flexibility to work between kitchen and shop floor.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* City & Guilds 706 1 and 2 or NVQ equivalent.
* Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2.
