*8AM-5PM SHIFT*
Big things are happening at Topps Group, home to premier UK tile brands including CTD, Topps Tiles, Pro Tiler Tools, Parkside and Tile Warehouse. We are committed to delivering exceptional service to our clients.
Working within our distribution centre based at NN4 9EX, you will be working a 10am-6pm Mon-Fri shift pattern. Our products are heavy, and lifting is a significant part of this role, so we need people who are comfortable doing this.
The role encompasses all warehousing activities from inbound to pick and dispatch. The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment, controlling costs, improving efficiency, and engaging colleagues through communication and continuous improvement. The Manager will act up in the absence of the Logistics Manager. Flexibility in shifts and working patterns is required to manage a 5-day, 2-shift operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Health, Safety, and Welfare:
* Ensure the yard and warehouse are safe and well maintained through daily inspections.
* Maintain all equipment (wrap machines, MHE, etc) in safe working order.
* Sign off Safe Working Procedures (SWPs) and Risk Assessments with the H&S team and ensure staff are trained and compliant.
* Report unsafe acts or conditions immediately and plan resolutions.
* Complete all auditing processes (MHE inspections, racking, behavioural audits, etc) regularly.
* Investigate and report H&S incidents according to policy.
* Implement initiatives to improve safety for all colleagues on site.
People/Leadership:
* Manage up to 40 colleagues through Shift Supervisors.
* Communicate regularly via briefings and 1:1 meetings.
* Lead weekly operations meetings with the supervisory team.
* Recruit, retain, and deploy staff in line with budgets and sales forecasts.
* Develop and deliver training plans, including refresher training.
* Manage absence and holiday reporting.
* Complete payroll administration accurately and timely.
* Ensure shifts meet Bonus KPIs with appropriate tools and updates.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives on shift.
* Conduct disciplinary investigations and meetings up to Written Warning level.
* Plan for succession of colleagues in coordination with NWM.
Customer / Process / Operations:
* Maximize pick accuracy and minimize damages using KPI reports.
* Reduce stock loss and damages through auditing and control measures.
* Monitor supplier compliance on inbound shipments and report non-compliance.
* Conduct regular performance reviews for colleagues on pick rates, accuracy, and damages.
* Analyze picking operations and collaborate with Process Operations Manager for efficiency.
* Act as contact for retail ASM representatives, providing feedback and improvements.
* Utilize PI team feedback to enhance operational processes.
* Report weekly on KPIs and initiative progress.
