About the role:
The Projects Delivery Manager leads a small team who identify how bp can demonstrate its supply chain to deliver elements of its global major project portfolio safely, predictably and competitively. Their team is accountable for all contracting and procurement activities for the elements of the projects within their accountability from their point of handover from the Front End Projects Delivery team; generally the 'define' and 'complete' phases of projects. In addition, the role acts as a critical issue route for their project(s) for all procurement matters.
Their team is accountable for the performance of the contracts and procurement delivery for their project elements.
They ensure their project is adequately supported, all procurement requirements are delivered on time and 3rd party costs are led appropriately. They deliver value through developing and implementing contracting and procurement strategy; awarding and subsequently leading contracts, developing and delivering logistics and material management plans. Once the project comes towards an end they handing over to operations.
Where required, they represent procurement in project leadership teams and may also engagement with external customers (in a UJV or IJV environments), ensuring thorough documentation is in place to support cost recovery.
The individual will be a strategic problem solver who leads small teams in developing creative solutions to solve business challenges through the lifecycle of the project for which their team is responsible. They cultivate partnerships with senior partners. They have high commercial acumen ensuring project and category alignment with project goals and delivering secure optimal, compliant, and competitive, risk-managed procurement outcomes. They work with their peers to share protocol making procurement more efficient and effective.

Key accountabilities:
Project delivery - Leads a team undertaking contracting and procurement delivery of elements of a major project in execution. Their team:
* Actively engages with the supply market
* Awards and runs execution contracts
* Ensures the team's activities are in compliance with the appropriate internal and external governance including, but not limited to, ABC/AML, export controls, trade sanctions and other relevant E&C policies
Team leadership: Builds high performing teams by fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement. Their team has strong technical skills.
* Engages across the wider procurement organization to ensure delivery of their objectives
* Develops the team's technical capabilities and feeds accelerator skills; curiosity in external markets, innovation and technological disruption, digital fluency, data-driven insights, and collaboration with partners
* Establishes an environment of psychological safety as a foundation for collaborative learning, ideation and innovation
* Provides coaching and guidance to their team
* Promotes compliance with bp's Code of Conduct (CoC), policies and procedures to ensure compliance, actively demonstrate and role model bp's Who We Are expectations
* Provides day to day guidance and advice to the team, supporting problem resolution
Contracts and procurement delivery: Oversees excellence in the delivery of contracting:
* Provides deep subject area technical expertise and maintains an excellent understanding of the supply market:
* Ensures supply chain engagements are effective
* Promotes excellence across procurement execution strategy development, negotiation and contracting
* Supports dispute resolution
* Leads project contract and procurement strategy development, incorporating historical lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities
* Ensures fit-for-purpose contracts are in place and effectively led, minimizing value leakage
* Provide excellent contracting, procurement, negotiation and dispute resolution, as required
* Partners and collaborates with core and strategic suppliers to develop and strengthen relationships
Transformational Leadership and Change Management: Develop and implement innovative and strategic contracting and partnership models including long term alliances with contractors.
* Demonstrates digital tools to drive innovation and value creation
* Uses storytelling and strong communication to encourage adoption
* Displays creativity to unlock value, drive innovation and deliver strong performance
What you need to be successful:
Functional knowledge: Must have access to and be knowledgeable on business context, strategic direction, priorities, partners, and key strategies. They lead and integrate a small diverse team.
* Good knowledge of category management principles and policy
* Good knowledge of the Project Delivery common process and projects execution experience
* Good knowledge of key systems and processes, e.g. Proton, Compass, Ariba, Backbone, etc.
* Good understanding of execution strategy and contract management to ensure strategies are effective
* Knowledge of supply chain contract management fundamentals, guideline and industry trends
* An understanding of how to ensure strategies flow through to execution in the projects
* Experience in guiding global teams in critical thinking to uncover insights, bring value, and drive innovation
Business expertise: Strong projects execution experience. A good understanding of the regions projects and their objectives.
* Good customer management and technical skills.
* Critical thinking with excellent commercial foresight including strong contractual knowledge and experienced negotiator.
* An understanding of working in and navigating complex multi-national businesses
* Track record in collaborating within highly complex projects
* Risk management, agility and strategic business development skills
Leadership: Extensive leadership experience, ideally in a procurement projects organization in order to:
* Set the tone for their Project Delivery Unit projects procurement team
* Lead their team in handling the projects, making interventions and dealing with critical issues
* Collaborate with categories, where necessary, role modelling an end to end procurement mentality
* Leading end to end execution of project and procurement critical metrics / goals and achievements
They are role models shaping work delivery, decision making and partnering with collaborators.
An advocate for our code, they incorporate the Operating Management System (OMS) and our safety leadership principles into strategies and everyday work, to build a purposeful, winning and caring culture which engenders collaboration, learning and constructive challenge
Problem solving: The role requires conceptual thinking, for instance, to develop strategic options and mitigations and to lead their teams in resolving project delivery challenges and delivering innovative solutions.

* Matches market capability with business requirements and develop the strategic options for the category
* The ability to evaluate innovative solutions and handle risk
* Strong judgement in order to translate projects requirements into a strategic delivery plans, aligned with the categories, supported by critical thinking to make informed strategic decisions
Interpersonal skills: The role demands strong people skills to lead their teams, while engaging with global, diverse senior participants, partnering with the Projects leadership and the broader procurement function to develop and evaluate project execution options.
* Senior partner networking and influencing skills ensure agreement and adoption, building a reputation as a strategic partner to projects
* Experience in regular interaction with external suppliers and representing bp externally
* Effective change management is key, requiring exceptional influencing, engagement and storytelling abilities
