Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Consultant in Elderly Medicine to join our dedicated team at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and deliver high-quality, patient‑centred care for older adults across acute and community settings. You will play a key role in shaping services for frailty, complex care and chronic conditions, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve outcomes and enhance quality of life.

Salary: £113,565 – £150,569 per annum

Main Duties
* Provide clinical and managerial leadership to an acute elderly care ward in partnership with an existing consultant colleague.
* Develop a subspecialty area of interest (e.g. frailty, liaison, or community).
* Provide consistent input to the elderly medicine ward, ensuring adequate arrangements for leave and off‑duty periods.
* Supervise resident doctors attached to the ward.
* Carry out a general geriatrics, falls or ‘hot’ clinic (typical clinic numbers: 5 new and 2 follow‑up patients).
* Participate in the internal medicine on‑call rota, including the ‘Post‑Take’ ward round.
* Promote high professional standards of clinical care and maintain continuing professional development.
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice.
* MBBS/MBChB or equivalent.
* MRCP or equivalent.
* Registered on the GMC specialist register for Geriatric Medicine, or within six months of admission if in training.
* Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development.
* MSc or PhD (preferred).
Experience
* Wide experience in Acute/General Medicine and at least 4 years at SpR level in Geriatric Medicine.
* Experience in medical education.
* Knowledge of research and audit methodologies.
