Job overview
We have a fabulous opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Physiotherapist to join the mental health physiotherapy team for Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
This post would be suited to a Physiotherapist with a special interest in mental health conditions, or those looking for a new opportunity to use their transferable skills from a different speciality.
Our community teams aim to improve the quality of life of those experiencing a mental health crisis, in relation to their diagnosis of dementia, depression, anxiety or other mental health problems.
We are a team made up of experienced Physiotherapists and assistants.
We work closely with various MDTs, such as Nurses, Specialist Support Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Psychiatrists.
We promote non-pharmacological interventions wherever possible and have a holistic approach to patient care. This is an ideal environment for an innovative Physiotherapist to utilise their therapy-based assessment and care planning skills.
Work with involve seeing people on wards and also in their own homes. There will be a focus on promoting independence, rehabilitation and also supporting carers.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will
3. be required to effectively prioritise your workload and will be able to respond to competing demands on your time.
4. have excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with patients, carers and all levels of staff, dealing with calls promptly and sensitively and ensuring that urgent care is provided on as appropriate.
5. assess patients who present with complex and severe cognitive impairment or impairment due to mental health illness to develop an effective treatment programme for them
6. provide specialist advice to other professionals, patients and carers as appropriate
7. take an active role in the multi-disciplinary team, attending the MDT meeting and offering physiotherapy input
8. work across various places across Derbyshire
9. regularly link in with the wider Physiotherapy team within the Trust for clinical supervision and further professional development
10. use the Electronic Patient Record to document your involvement with patients
11. be a qualified physiotherapist with recent and relevant post-qualification experience
12. must be able to travel between bases

The successful applicant will work within a supportive MDT and have close links with the Older adult and Working age adult wards, Community Mental Health Teams, GPs and social care.
Professional development and further learning are encouraged, and you will receive robust clinical and managerial supervision, along with wider support and training in-house within the team.
The role is funded by the Cubley court team. The role is a rotational work who will be working in other adult mental health wards and community areas on a rotational basis.
