Position Summary
Will perform a variety of activities acting as a Project Engineer on a large scale Semiconductor Manufacturing Facility. Will be responsible for delivery of products and performance across the Engineering Function for assigned tasks. Has responsibility for ensuring process and procedures are in place and aligned to the wider programme.
Typical Responsibilities
* Reports to the Project Engineering Manager (PEM).
* Assists the PEM with the supervision of engineering activity (all disciplines) on a semiconductor project, or designated portions of a project.
* As directed, manages the complex organizational interactions that evolve from the participation of several Bechtel entities on the project or from client-established relationships with other contractors.
* Establishes and maintains access to technical experts in the advanced technologies pertinent to the project and sets up channels of communication to bring this expertise to bear effectively on the engineering effort.
* Requires a broad knowledge of administrative practices.
* Establishes the detailed project scope, including basic engineering criteria and assumptions.
* Assists with project engineering schedules and budgets and maintaining the quality of design and making the facility safe for construction and operations personnel.
* Develops design and procurement schedules for approval.
* Prepares, approves, or recommends approval of project procedures for engineering, as required.
* Coordinates engineering effort with Project Manager, Procurement, Construction, Startup, Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) and Project Controls.
* Resolves field-initiated questions on engineering.
* Reviews project engineering progress against approved schedules, evaluates changes and takes corrective action when required.
* Represents Engineering on the project and with the client to resolve technical questions, expedite procurement, coordinate construction interfaces and as required to coordinate work.
* Travels on business to the client, jobsite and subcontractor offices as required.
* Champions the creation of a work environment, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction on the project.
* May assist the PEM in conducting annual performance reviews in accordance with approved procedures and holds career development discussions.
Skills and Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
* Requires relevant design engineering experience on several medium size projects or designated portions of a very large or complicated projects.
* Progressive work experience, including supervision, preferably in project and staff design engineering or architectural design but may include other relevant types of engineering including startup, field engineering or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants or engineering/construction firms.
* Technical knowledge of related engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers.
* Proficient knowledge of project engineering processes and procedures.
* Professional Engineer Registration.
* Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved and current knowledge of new methods of design and construction.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A recognized degree in architecture or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
* Candidates responding to this posting must currently possess the eligibility to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
* Experience in semiconductor Fab unit engineering systems.
Preferred Qualifications
* Previous Bechtel experience.
* Experience in Manufacturing and Testing business.
* Experience managing engineering subcontracts.
