Right now, they are seeking an experienced Mid/Senior level agency Planner or Brand Strategist to join their Newcastle-based team. This award-winning agency have built their reputation on helping clients build powerful brands through engaging brand stories, that are as unique as they are memorable. They have a great reputation for fantastic work and team culture, with this role in particular being key to their creative success.
The role
Reporting into the Head of Planning, as the agency's new Planner/Brand Strategist you’ll take a leading role in planning on clients’ ambitious brand, advertising, comms and digital projects while also measuring the effectiveness of the work itself. Other responsibilities include:
* Using a range of research and strategy approaches to provide qualitative/quantitative data and insights — from desk research and large-scale projects through to running workshops and focus groups with clients in the room.
* Immersing yourself in your clients' sectors, categories and brand worlds, bringing back patterns, themes and inspiration that drive strategy forwards.
* Developing bold, insight-driven work across brand positioning and identity through to marketing, comms, advertising and digital experiences.
* Coaching junior planners in qualitative/quantitative techniques, frameworks and exercises, and helping shape their outputs.
* Signing off on creative briefs, leading briefings, and being a trusted sounding board for creative teams.
* Confidently discussing brand, creative and comms strategy with senior clients and colleagues, and proactively suggesting what needs to be on their future agenda.
* Keeping up to date on the latest media trends, platforms and channels, and bringing an informed view into comms planning.
* Driving the agency’s effectiveness culture: designing and delivering evaluations, embedding best practice with client teams, and publishing/feeding into thought leadership.
* Playing a key role in new business — from proposals and costings through to strategy, creative development and pitching.
Who we’re looking for
* A razor-sharp communicator — clarity, incision and inspiration in both written and spoken word, comfortable presenting at Board / C-Suite level.
* Ideally a minimum 5 years’ agency experience in a mid-weight or senior planning role, ideally in an integrated or advertising agency, but client-side consumer insight experience will also be considered.
* An inspiring and energising colleague who can help lead and motivate junior members of the team, coaching and training as needed.
* Credible with senior clients, earning trust as an advisor and building long-term relationships.
* Commercially astute, with experience contributing to pitches, identifying opportunities and supporting agency growth.
* Someone who can juggle multiple projects and always hit deadlines, while maintaining empathy, consideration and a collaborative team spirit.
