Role Overview
As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a key role in building and refurbishment projects, managing costs from early design through to completion. You'll ensure projects meet legal and quality standards while providing value for money to clients and maintaining company profit margins.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities in collaboration with architects and/or clients
2. Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work
3. Assist in establishing client requirements and conducting feasibility studies
4. Perform risk, value management, and cost control activities
5. Advise on procurement strategies
6. Identify, analyse, and develop responses to commercial risks
7. Prepare and analyse costings for tenders
8. Allocate work to subcontractors
9. Provide advice on contractual claims
10. Analyse project outcomes and produce detailed progress reports
11. Value completed work and arrange payments
12. Maintain awareness of current building contracts and their applications
13. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Essential Requirements
Qualifications
14. Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent professional qualification
Experience
15. Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience in a quantity surveying role
16. Proven track record in maintenance and minor works contracts
17. Experience managing high-volume works orders and planned works
18. Strong understanding of Schedule of Rates pricing and measured term contracts
Skills and Attributes
19. Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
20. Strong negotiation and communication abilities
21. Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
22. Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team
23. Full UK driving licence
