Description Team Leader (Nights) Care Homes Citywide Salary: £33,287 - £39,129 (pro-rata for part-time) Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks Social care is a challenging and rewarding career. Our care staff work with some of Edinburgh’s most vulnerable residents. Working in Adult Social Care is a way to make a real difference to the lives of adults and it is extremely rewarding. Care workers help people to live independent, full and valued lives, they will also help maintain their dignity while helping with personal care such as bathing, dressing, meals and medication. Your key responsibilities will include: Supervising all care staff and monitoring the care given to our residents Contributing to the personal needs of each individual resident Promoting a friendly, caring and safe environment Ensuring that residents retain their dignity, choice and individuality Helping induct, train and supervise colleagues and junior members of staff in all aspects of their work in the Home Writing, updating and maintaining residents' Care Plans The successful applicant will have: A minimum of an SVQ3 Health and Social Care Medication administration training At least one year’s experience working in a care setting To adhere to the SSSC Codes of Practice at all times and obtain SSSC registration To ensure all information of a confidential nature gained during duty is not divulged to third parties We can offer you excellent training, good rates of pay, excellent holiday entitlement, a generous pension scheme and range of staff benefits. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Experience of working with older people with dementia. An understanding of the needs of older people. Experience of working with members of the public. Experience of working with Health Care Professionals. Responding to and providing advice and guidance to staff, service users and others. Customer care. Planning and organising workload effectively. Experience of working on their own initiative. Experience of the Care Home setting, including knowledge and an understanding of the diverse issues and needs of people who live and work there. (Desirable) Prevention of hospital admission. (Desirable) Knowledge, Skills and Understanding: Good customer care practice. Organisational skills. Time management. Written and oral communication (reports, statistics). Dealing with emergencies and complex Issues. Basic IT skills (Word; Excel and E-mail). An understanding of the National Care standards. Analytical skills in managing residents care. (Desirable) Ability to interpret or gain knowledge of changes in policy and legislation. (Desirable) Knowledge of complaints procedure, customer care procedures. (Desirable) Knowledge of Protection of Vulnerable Groups legislation. (Desirable) Qualifications and Training: HNC/SVQIII in Care P.D.A. 15 credits. PDA 15 credits. (Desirable) Job Specific Requirements: Being Customer/Client Focused. Managing People Effectively.
